Forster Looking For Fighting Spirit Against Oldham

North Wales Crusaders head coach Carl Forster is looking for a fighting spirit from his side when they take on Oldham in Colwyn Bay on Saturday evening.

Crusaders currently sit two points outside of the play-offs and will be met by and Oldham side who are hotly tipped for promotion this season: “Look, I think you only have to look at last season and us reaching the play-off final to realise that budgets don’t always win you games on the field, he said.

“We recruit smartly here, and I have no doubt that on our day we are capable of causing an upset against any team in the division.

“Keighley are currently sat top of the league, and if I’m honest on the two occasions we’ve played them already this season, I really don’t think we were far off at all.

“We’ve had a big change in personnel during the off season, and I think you can tell that some of those combinations are still bedding in, but our time will come, I have no doubt about that.”

Last weekend saw Forster’s side fall to a defeat in the Midlands, and the Crusaders player-coach has said that his side could see some changes going into this weekend: “I think we have to look to change things up a little bit.

“What is probably a slight concern right now is that we are staying in games until that final 10/15 minutes when they seem to get away from us, and we’ve got to look at ourselves and find that little bit extra or play a little smarter at times.

“We’ve seen so many games this season where we’ve lost by fine margins, even a point against Rochdale, so we’ve got to kill games off and make the most of our good field position.

“I think there will probably be a couple of changes for this weekend as we rotate things slightly and look to get everyone ready for the second-half of the season as well.”

The Crusaders coach has also urged fans to come out in numbers for the clash: "We went down to Midlands last week, and in spite of the awful weather conditions, it was heartwarming to look across to the stand and see our loyal traveling contingent, who made a really good noise throughout the game.

"On and off the pitch, Saturday evening promises to be a really exciting event, and I encourage fans new and old to get behind us and do North Wales proud."
